World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
The upgrade feature for items allows players to increase the level of equippable weapons or armor. This boosts the stats of that equipment, in addition to sometimes adding buffs or rerolling an affix.
It is important to remember that while you can upgrade your magic and common equipment, it's usually not worth the effort. Rare and exclusive equipment will soon surpass upgraded magic and common equipment.
Cost
When a player decides to upgrade an item, they must spend Gold to upgrade the item. The cost of upgrading an item is dependent on its current level and the upgrade type selected. For instance upgrading a weapon is generally be less expensive than upgrading armor, since weapons require lower levels of skill. The amount of Gold required increases when the item is upgraded to a higher level.
A new item will also come with increased stats, which could boost its performance in a variety of ways. This could include boosting its attack strength or critical strike chance. Additionally an upgraded item might be able to give additional buffs for its equipped unit. These upgrades can be used for a variety of reasons such as to increase the overall strength of an individual or group unit. They also can affect the overall gameplay.
The items can be upgraded at any NPC who is an upgrader in the game. Typically NPCs can be found in major cities or questing spots. Players can also find upgraders in dungeons that have high-level bosses, and by talking to NPCs in their faction's garrisons.
The item upgrade system in World of Warcraft provides players with the option of upgrading the levels of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is similar to reforging process used in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However, instead of using currency, players have to visit an item upgrader to complete the process.
Upgrades can be costly especially for weapons and armor. Depending on which upgrade track you choose, each item upgrade can cost Valorstones or Crests. The costs can be prohibitive for those who do not have the funds or are unwilling to grind.
Fortunately the game lets players roll an upgraded item using a special tool in the menu for items. This option will replace the upgraded item with an unlevel 1 version that has different bonus effects. This can be useful to get better scores on items that are already upgraded, but could be a waste of money.
Requirements
Upgrading is the procedure of increasing the level of items that can be equipped, such as trinkets, weapons, and armor. This increases their power and makes them more effective in combat. Players can upgrade their gear by spending the appropriate currency at an upgrader. Players should be aware of the fact that certain upgrades require special requirements.
The earliest upgrades only increase the stats of the item's base by one level, but later upgrades give more substantial increases. Upgrades from level 3 to 6 will boost the weapon's damage by two levels. A bonus stat will be added to the upgraded item based on the level. This bonus is a combination of a guaranteed additional substat as well as a random stat that will vary in value from upgrade to upgrade.
A player can Reroll an upgraded item using a Reroll Token to exchange the upgrade for a new version. The new item has a different set of extra bonuses, and a lower item level. The rerolled item will have different requirements for strength and dexterity. It is important to keep in mind that the rerolled item does not keep its original strength or even a fraction of its resources.
Rerolling some upgraded items is only possible if the item that was upgraded was an Epic Rare, Rare or Unique. Exceptional items are also eligible for rerolling, but their original stats will be replaced by an uninvolved bonus. This means that rerolling an item that is Rare item will result in a Normal version of the same type, while rerolling an Epic item will result in an elite version of the same kind.
A newly upgraded item could have extra modifiers, which can further increase its stats and enhance its performance. These additional modifiers are not included in the upgrade cost. You can buy them at the Trading Post, or through other players. Alternatively, they can be earned through completing certain tasks in the game.
To upgrade an equipment piece it is necessary to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine. You will need Power Dices depending on the item. (Dice 6 are dropped by monsters 21+, Giants and Bosses; Dice 12 can be found from Bosses). You will also require different amounts of Minerals, Erons and Giants.
Time
Upgrades to items can be used to increase the performance of your equipment and ship without the need to upgrade them. Although upgrading isn't inexpensive, it's a good way to improve your stats without having to spend a lot of time in combat. It is important to understand the cost and benefits prior to making the investment of time or money.
Each upgrade boosts the base stat of an item by a certain amount, and also offers the chance for a bonus substat increase. The random substat can be anything from a minor boost to a much larger boost. Make sure to focus on the stats that are best in slots first. They will provide a more profit for your investment.
You can see the amount of time needed to complete an upgrade if you open your inventory and choose a weapon, ship or accessory. The upgrade window will show the progress and anticipated completion time. In some instances you might be able to speed the process by using a Glyph.
It is also possible to salvage any or all of the upgrade components from an item using a high-end salvage kit that is sold by Black Lion Salvage and Ascended Salvage. This does not apply to legendary equipment or upgrades that can be retrieved using an Upgrade extractor or by making a claim with the appropriate Karma dealer.
Rewards
The upgrading of items grants players currency and a range of items. Each upgrade also has the chance to award an random stat bonus. The value of the bonus is different for every upgrade, and is typically more expensive for rarer items. Players can conduct the Great Vault search to see whether an item can be upgraded before spending tickets. The search will help determine whether the item is in a certain tier and whether the player will benefit from a particular upgrade.

During the upgrade, the item will slowly move closer to the next stage, but not always reach its full upgrade bar. This process consumes Growthstones and Sollant and Sollant, but there's an opportunity to obtain an upgraded item in just one cycle of growth. The higher the level an item is upgraded the more stats will be and the more items can be upgraded.
Upgrade components can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an attribute benefit or an additional effect when the equipment is being used. Some upgrade components have additional cosmetic effects. Players can acquire upgrade items by crafting, purchasing from vendors or the Trading Post, looting, or as an incentive. Additionally players can find upgraded items using an Upgrade Extractor, or salvaging them with a high-tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are positioned on tools for gathering are able to be swapped.
A player can turn an item into another upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button an arrow that indicates reroll. This will change the layout of the item's window and allow players to choose up to six items to "recycle". The item that is recycled will be exchanged with an item of level 1 similar to it. Recycled items don't keep their level or the amount of resources needed to upgrade them.
The highest level of upgrade an item can achieve is determined by its quality and tier. Rare and Epic items can be upgraded up to level nine, while common items can only be upgraded up to level six. The item upgrades are added to the base statistics of the item. This means that they will not increase in the future after a certain level.
